I live in Northern California which has recently suffered unprecedented fierce fires, smoke filled skies and some of the world’s unhealthiest air. The entire West Coast has simultaneously experienced record breaking heat waves alongside the deadly COVID pandemic. In those rare moments when the air is considered healthy, I enjoy going to less crowded outdoor locations where there is ample space for social distancing. The kite park is one of my favorite destinations. While there, I am able to watch people temporarily forget their daily fears, anxieties and isolation. This experience lifts my spirits and hopes. It also creates unique opportunities for me to photograph their spontaneous joy.

Eric Davidove is a California native street photographer who currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area. Eric started taking photography seriously after finding himself unemployed in March 2015. His time spent as a street mime came in handy, giving him the ability to anticipate street moments, to be there with his camera as they happen, and to take photos without being noticed or upsetting people. For Eric, the most important thing is to be having fun and learning something new.
