Celebrating Six Feet & You

Wednesday, May 25th, 7pm EDT via Zoom

Over the last two years, through the generosity of hundreds of photographers from around the globe, Six Feet has grown into a powerful, inspiring, and supportive photography community. By practicing together, we found new ways of looking at and making meaning of our shifting world while creating a collective visual narrative of the pandemic that touched both the pain and possibilities of hope, community, and strength.

In celebration of what we created together, we will be launching the Kinship Photography Collective (Kinship), a global community of photographers exploring the intimate connections between nature, culture, and belonging. Together we will be making kin with the natural world and each other. Much like Six Feet, this new project will evoke and nurture the same emotions, values, and bonds, but with wider boundaries and more expansive tools for engaging.

As you know, Six Feet was built around an urgent call for engagement and a passion for inquiry and collaboration. Questions were placed in the center of our community, and everyone was encouraged to explore, respond, and share. At the heart of Kinship is an equally urgent call. Beyond the pandemic is an ecological and social crisis that needs our love, care, wisdom, and attention.

Much like during the early days of Six Feet, we will be exploring the unique role that photography can play during this time. We invite each of you to join us as we expand our community.

Kinship is the next iteration of the Six Feet community. We will be building a new website, changing our Instagram handle, and building an exciting social engagement platform.

What will happen to the Six Feet website? What about the archive? The galleries, the recorded conversations, etc? Join us this Wednesday as we talk through the transition. Your ideas, feedback, and concerns are needed and welcome.

We invite you to join us as we celebrate Six Feet and the awesome community that helped make this happen.
