Photography & Consent: A Community Conversation

Wednesday, March 17th, 7 pm ET

This week, as we continue to explore the theme of boundaries, we will be questioning the role of consent in our photographic practice. This is an exploratory community conversation designed to expand our ideas around the use and practice of consent and our role in helping build consent culture.

Consent culture is a culture that normalizes the action of asking for consent and respecting whatever responses are given. It affirms bodily autonomy and maintains that boundaries (a person's right to choose what is comfortable to them) should be respected unconditionally.

Warning: Out of respect for your emotional safety, please keep in mind that consent culture is a topic of importance for photographers who work within vulnerable and oppressed communities, especially communities that have experienced physical and sexual trauma. Please be aware, before registering, that these topics may be discussed.
