Annie Tritt and Secret Agent 23 Skidoo on Individuality

Photographer Annie Tritt and hip hop artist, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo have both focused their carriers and art toward celebration of individuality, owning what makes you different, and both have worked with or geared their message toward kids. Childhood can be an extra hard time to embrace your own individuality. Skidoo’s Grammy winning kid-hop has inspired kids of all ages, but the complexity of his music and messages makes it resonate with adults as well. Annie’s ongoing project, “Transgending Self” focuses on transgender and non-binary kids inspired by hearing statistics about suicide rates of transgender individuals, the project has paralleled Tritt’s own shift in gender identity. This discussion will focus on daring to be yourself and how to foster your own voice and overcoming the fear of judgment as well as the potential pitfalls and problems that can arise from an overly individualistic society.
