Rebecca Fudala grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota. In 2005, she received a bachelor’s degree from American University’s School of International Service, in Washington, DC. After graduating, she spent five years living abroad and teaching English, mostly in Prague and Seoul. In 2010, she moved to Ramallah, in the West Bank, where she worked as a photojournalist for The Palestine Monitor. Her photo essays focus on women rights, evictions in East Jerusalem, and the lives of children in refugee camps. Her images also accompanied fellow journalists’ articles on a variety of topics. In 2013, she earned a master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International Affairs. She has since worked at Oxfam International, Oxfam America, and The New Yorker.

This summer, she graduated from the Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism program at the International Center of Photography, in New York where she was the recipient of a Director’s Fellowship and was named the 2020 George Moss Merit Scholar.
