Matt Eich and Malcolm Holcombe on Memory, Storytelling, and The American Condition

Recorded on Monday, May 4th, 7 pm ET

Matt Eich and Malcolm Holcombe are two of the great American story tellers. Eich has used documentary photography to tell stories of family, and community and the country at large culminating in four published monographs and a series of zines. Holcombe, a native of Western North Carolina, uses song writing as his voice to communicate many of the same sentiments and struggles. Both artists speak to the American Condition with both visceral immediacy and subtle nuance. This cross disciplinary discussion will touch on the tools of storytelling and how we as photographers could expand our scope and thinking so that our images might sing.
