Michelle Groskopf and Chris Reed on seeing and composing the public realm

Recorded Monday, May 11th, 7 pm ET

Michelle Groskopf is an editorial and street photographer based in LA who’s arresting and immediate images speak to how it feels to be in a space while giving very little spacial or environmental context to what that space might be. Chris Reed is a Landscape Architect and Harvard Professor who works at all scales to shape urban spaces all over the world. The work of his firm, Stoss Landscape Urbanism, uses design to react to issues around climate, social equity and needs on a community level. Understanding the psychology around how people interact with spaces is a huge part of his practice and photography is one of the main tools to achieve that. We will talk about how Chris uses photography to inform design and how decisions about how public space is shaped informs the images we make.
